The Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross cordially invites you to join us for our 14^th Annual Real Heroes Celebration Dinner honoring Real Heroes from Whatcom County and the Skagit Valley on December 1st, 2011 at 6 pm at the Best Western Lakeway Inn in Bellingham.

Dinner will be served at 6:30 pm, accompanied by a brief program by guest speaker Executive Director of Teaching and Learning for the Bellingham School District Steve Clarke and the presentation of this year’s Real Heroes. An opportunity to support the Mt. Baker Chapter will be given at the close of the program.

Hero nominations are received from the public, and a panel of community leaders chooses the most compelling stories. The selected individuals are acknowledged and honored with an award at the annual Real Heroes Celebration sponsored by BP Cherry Point Refinery.

Meet ordinary people with extraordinary courage who exemplify the mission of the American Red Cross. Together we will hear their stories and celebrate their accomplishments. Please join us to celebrate this year’s heroes and support your local American Red Cross.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Washington — helping the children of Northwest Washington reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships and contributing to brighter futures, better schools and stronger communities for generations to come.

Donate your time or money to help a child reach their potential. It could just be the start of something big.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with passed appetizers and our popular silent auction. Later, guests will be seated at tables for ten for dinner, the dessert dash and the live auction program. The live auction features private parties,  jewelry, trips, fine wine and much more!

Last year’s auction raised over $230,000 to benefit Whatcom Hospice. Hospice provides life-affirming care for patients and their families facing the crisis of life-limiting illness.
